SEAFOOD EXPO PITTMAN

Barcelona is the new Brussels – Seafood Expo Global moves to a new home (and Pittman Seafoods will be there in force) 1 minute

  Mar 24, 2022

Seafood provides a richly diverse food production sector in terms of its species and product offerings and is also one of the most widely traded foodstuffs. In addition, global demand is climbing to new levels with every passing year as more and more consumers come to appreciate the many benefits that it offers.

Because seafood is produced in many different regions around the world, before often being processed, sold and consumed , it’s important that industry professionals keep a close eye on market trends and supply chain innovations and disruptions.

Historically, we’ve found that one of the best ways to maintain this close industry scrutiny is to participate in some of the important international events and stakeholder gatherings. In terms of scale, there’s none larger than the annual Seafood Expo Global – or SEG.

From modest beginnings

Due to the public health and safety issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the last SEG was staged in 2019. Happily though, the event returns to the seafood calendar this year. The 28th edition will be based at a new location with the doors of Spain’s Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue opening between 26-28 April.

Pittman Seafoods has participated in this exhibition – previously held in Brussels, Belgium – since its earliest days, and will do so again in Barcelona. Over the years, we have seen this trade event grow around us – from half of a single conference hall in the first year to a record breaking 40,625 square metres of combined exhibition space in May 2019.

According to the event’s organisers, that last edition brought in a total of 29,288 buyers and suppliers from around the globe and across the industry – representing restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, catering services, importers, distributors and more. It comprised of 2,020 exhibiting companies, from 89 countries, who showcased their latest seafood products, services, processing and packaging equipment to visitors from 155 countries.

Additionally, attendees used the event to learn about emerging trends and to discuss challenges and opportunities with industry experts.

Drop by and say ‘hola’

For us, SEG provides the ideal platform to meet face-to-face with current and potential clients and suppliers, engage with other leading players, and share the progress that we’re making with the world. We have long maintained that SEG is much more than a three-day networking opportunity, instead, it is a core component of our annual outreach strategy.

Therefore, with SEG 2022 providing the opportunity for our industry to at long last physically reconnect, if you’re going to be attending and would like to hear more about our business or to discuss your activities, please  visit our stand 2D303. It will be great to see you!
