Depuis quelques ann\u00e9es, nous sommes \u00e9galement actionnaires majoritaires d\u2019Omega C-Foods, une \u00ab\u00a0joint-venture\u00a0\u00bb responsable du sourcing, du contr\u00f4le de qualit\u00e9 et du transport. Ce qui nous am\u00e8ne \u00e0 nous rendre r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement sur place. En mai 2018, Joke Vandepitte et Dieter Sanders (les dirigeants de Pittman Seafoods) ont visit\u00e9 la douzi\u00e8me r\u00e9gion, \u00e0 l\u2019extr\u00eame sud du pays. \u00a0<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Outre la visite programm\u00e9e de l\u2019usine, nous nous sommes rendus dans une ferme d\u2019\u00e9levage de saumons ASC, \u00e9tablie sur l\u2019archipel de la Terre de Feu (Tierra del Fuego), en Patagonie. Cette r\u00e9gion se situe \u00e0 l\u2019extr\u00eame sud de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique australe, aux confins de l\u2019Antarctique. Afin de pr\u00e9server la magnifique nature, les autorit\u00e9s ont instaur\u00e9 un grand nombre de mesures draconiennes. Afin de rejoindre le plus efficacement possible l\u2019usine situ\u00e9e \u00e0 Porvenir, nous avons emprunt\u00e9 un petit Cessna qui a survol\u00e9 le d\u00e9troit de Magellan. Nous avons visit\u00e9 cette r\u00e9gion et l\u2019usine \u00e0 de nombreuses reprises. Tom Robbens, notre \u00ab\u00a0Quality Manager\u00a0\u00bb, s\u2019y trouvait pas plus tard qu\u2019en f\u00e9vrier dernier afin d\u2019effectuer un audit. Depuis cette derni\u00e8re visite, les dirigeants de l\u2019usine ont investi dans l\u2019automatisation. Dans cette r\u00e9gion \u00e0 faible densit\u00e9 de population, il est en effet extr\u00eamement difficile de trouver de la main-d\u2019\u0153uvre. Cette usine certifi\u00e9e IFS et BRC r\u00e9pond parfaitement \u00e0 nos besoins. Pour atteindre la ferme, nous avons emprunt\u00e9 un bateau et navigu\u00e9 durant quatre heures parmi des paysages idylliques. C\u2019\u00e9tait l\u2019hiver et la mer \u00e9tait particuli\u00e8rement agit\u00e9e. \u00c0 notre arriv\u00e9e, on est venu nous chercher avec un plus petit bateau, afin de d\u00e9contaminer l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur du n\u00f4tre. Nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 re\u00e7us \u00e0 bord d\u2019une <em>maison flottante<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Cette ferme est occup\u00e9e par une vingtaine de personnes (techniciens, plongeurs, cuisinier\u2026) ayant pour mission d\u2019assurer l\u2019optimisation de l\u2019\u00e9levage. C\u2019est ainsi que, par exemple, les filets sont nettoy\u00e9s quotidiennement. Dans une ferme de cette envergure, on \u00e9l\u00e8ve entre 1\u00a0500 et 7\u00a0000 tonnes de saumon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsiteurl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1273\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsiteurl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/academy.pittmanseafoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/academy.pittmanseafoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/academy.pittmanseafoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/academy.pittmanseafoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/academy.pittmanseafoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2-700x700.jpg 700w, https:\/\/academy.pittmanseafoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Pittman-Chili-trip-2.jpg 872w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>La douzi\u00e8me r\u00e9gion est propice \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9levage de saumon certifi\u00e9 ASC, lequel n\u2019est pas menac\u00e9 par les poux de mer. \u00c0 aucun stade de son d\u00e9veloppement, le saumon \u00e9lev\u00e9 dans cette r\u00e9gion n\u2019est trait\u00e9 aux antibiotiques, m\u00eame \u00e0 titre curatif.<\/p>\n<p>Cette sp\u00e9cialisation s\u2019explique en outre par le fait que cette r\u00e9gion est difficilement accessible et que les licences sont tr\u00e8s peu nombreuses. Au Chili, quelque 1 350 licences sont attribu\u00e9es pour l\u2019\u00e9levage de saumon. 1 227 licences concernent la dixi\u00e8me et la onzi\u00e8me r\u00e9gion, seules 125 sont attribu\u00e9es \u00e0 la douzi\u00e8me r\u00e9gion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quelques chiffres significatifs :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2018, on pr\u00e9voit que 2\u00a0405 000 tonnes de saumon Atlantique seront \u00e9lev\u00e9es dans le monde.
