In\u00a0addition,\u00a0global demand is\u00a0climbing to new levels with every passing year as more and more consumers come to appreciate the many benefits that it offers.\u00a0<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Because seafood is produced in many different regions around the world, before often being processed, sold and consumed , it\u2019s important that industry professionals keep a close eye on market trends and supply chain innovations and disruptions.<\/p>\n<p>Historically, we\u2019ve found that one of the best ways to maintain this close industry scrutiny is to participate in some of the important international events and stakeholder gatherings. In terms of scale, there\u2019s none larger than the annual Seafood Expo Global \u2013 or SEG.<\/p>\n<div class=\"medium-insert-images medium-insert-active\">\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/contentrockr.com\/files\/images\/articleimages\/Article-70\/5a65cf9c-f64e-48fc-8c5e-5cbe76496403.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>From\u00a0modest\u00a0beginnings<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Due to the\u00a0public health and safety issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the last SEG was staged in 2019. Happily though, the event returns to the seafood calendar this year. The 28th\u00a0edition\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0based\u00a0at a new location\u00a0with the doors of Spain\u2019s Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue opening between 26-28 April.<\/p>\n<p>Pittman Seafoods has participated in this exhibition \u2013 previously held in Brussels, Belgium \u2013 since its earliest days, and will do so again in Barcelona. Over the years, we have seen this trade event grow around us \u2013 from half of a single conference hall in the first year\u00a0to a record\u00a0breaking 40,625 square metres of combined exhibition space in May 2019.<\/p>\n<p>According to the event\u2019s organisers, that last edition\u00a0brought in a total of 29,288 buyers and suppliers from around the globe and across the industry \u00ad\u2013 representing restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, catering services, importers, distributors and more.\u00a0It\u00a0comprised\u00a0of 2,020 exhibiting companies, from 89 countries, who showcased their latest seafood products, services, processing and packaging equipment to visitors\u00a0from 155 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, attendees used the event to learn about emerging trends and to discuss challenges and opportunities with industry experts.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Drop\u00a0by\u00a0and\u00a0say\u00a0&#8216;hola&#8217;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For us, SEG provides the ideal platform to meet face-to-face with current and potential clients and suppliers, engage with other leading players, and share the progress that we\u2019re making with the world.
